Camino Details

Dear Summit Pilgrims,

The Camino planning group has hammered out the details of the upcoming Parkinson’s empowerment trip in October of 2018. We thought we would share a few more details so you will be better prepared to make a decision about joining this “family” for our fourth adventurous trek to raise awareness and important funds to keep important Parkinson’s research moving forward….let’s all work to bring an end to Parkinson’s disease!!!!

Here are some details of the trip:

Are you a person with Parkinson’s (PWP)? If you are a PWP please know that you must take a “buddy” with you.

The cost of the trek is approximately $1500 USD. This price includes 8 nights of
accommodations with both breakfast and dinner included, transfers to and from the Santiago airport
and luggage drops from town to town. This does not include travel insurance which is mandatory for
the trek (cost ~$200). This trip insurance may be covered by one of your credit card companies
(please check!).

You are responsible for the cost and booking of all flights to and from Santiago de Compostela
(usually through Madrid, Barcelona or Lisbon).

There will be SIX days of trekking. The distances vary between 8 and 18 miles a day. We ask that
you try your best to be in shape to walk this although we can arrange for transportation if you want
to hike only a portion of one of the longer days.

Now that you know the basics here is how to sign up!

The name of the trekking company that we have chosen is Camino Ways and here is a link to the route we will be taking https://caminoways.com/ways/english-way-camino-ingles. We will start in Ferrol and end in Santiago de Compostela where we will receive our “pilgrimage certificate” https://caminoways.com/pilgrims-certificate-the-compostela

The reference number for our trip is CW29308

The toll free number to sign up is 646-801-7951 then press option 2 to register for the trek. Please ask to speak to Carolina, Rodrigo or Juanma an let them know you are a part of the Summit For Stem Cell group!

A call back will be scheduled at the earliest time possible.

You will be asked for a deposit of $400 Euros (roughly $478 USD) to secure your spot.

The deposit (€400 per person) is non-refundable, please look at Terms & Conditions and further penalties would apply if cancelling less than 2 months before departure. Weather along the English Way will be perfect for trekking! The averages are between 50
degrees F. at night to 64 degrees F. during the day. There is an average of 11 days of rain
in October. Weather ofcourse can not be predicted so really good rain gear will be a
must!

4. Remember this trip is not about elevation as much as it is about endurance. We will have
long days of hiking on the beautiful trails in Spain! If the day of hiking looks too long
we can arrange transportation to pick you up somewhere along the Camino and take you
to the next destination.
